Observable problem

A familiar written word is not recognised when a teacher says it inside a phrase. Quote the phrase and identify the part that became unclear. Separate not knowing the word from not matching a known word to the sound. Neither observation gives a Listening level or evidence about your own pronunciation.

Why it happens

Connected speech can make word boundaries less obvious than spaces on a page suggest. Review a short meaningful phrase instead of demanding isolated perfect sounds. In this teacher-read practice, first attempt meaning, then check the script and explain the mismatch. Keep the observation specific to the phrase rather than generalising about an accent or speaker.

Original micro-drill

Teacher reads the original line: “Could you leave it at the front desk?” Keep the text hidden initially. Say where the item should be left and repeat the phrase that located it. Then see the script and mark the boundary you missed. The teacher can read it again for rehearsal; do not call that second hearing transfer.

New-task transfer check

New line: “Please put the folder beside the rear window.” A teacher reads before showing the words. Speak the location and explain the phrase you used. Compare the two phrase boundaries in your notes. If you need a different speaker, agree that with the teacher; this page supplies no audio or claim of coverage across accents.

Next action

Keep the original answer, the exact teacher-script cue and one error code together. Ask for a different original script before the next check. If a cue remains unclear, record insufficient evidence and ask a teacher to review it. Only use a proposed strength when you can cite a separate example of that strength; do not infer it from this error. Your next action is one focused rehearsal followed by an unseen task.
