Observable problem
You understand the general message but the answer does not fit the surrounding note. It may name the wrong kind of detail or use an incompatible form. Keep the gap, your answer and the settling phrase together. Do not assume that every mismatch comes from listening comprehension when the note structure provides another explanation.
Why it happens
The first plausible detail can attract attention before the speaker finishes correcting it. Prediction should identify the information type, not commit you to an answer. Check the actual instruction and any stated word limit on the task you use. This original micro-drill is a form check, not a complete Listening test or score conversion.
Original micro-drill
Write the note “Bring two ___”. Teacher reads: “You will need two pencils, not pens, for the sketching session.” Speak the final item and fit it into the note. Quote the correction and check that your answer names the required object in a plural form. Explain the difference between the rejected object and the final instruction.
New-task transfer check
New note: “Meeting starts at ___”. Teacher reads: “The board says ten, but we have moved the start to eleven.” Answer before seeing the script, then explain the final time cue. Compare whether you checked the required information type in both attempts. A corrected copy of the pencil answer would be rehearsal rather than this new-task check.
Next action
Keep the original answer, the exact teacher-script cue and one error code together. Ask for a different original script before the next check. If a cue remains unclear, record insufficient evidence and ask a teacher to review it. Only use a proposed strength when you can cite a separate example of that strength; do not infer it from this error. Your next action is one focused rehearsal followed by an unseen task.
