Observable problem
A long sentence leaves you remembering several nouns but unable to say which claim belongs to which subject. You then answer from a nearby familiar phrase. Mark the point where the main relationship disappeared. The observation concerns this sentence and response; it does not establish your overall Reading ability or the difficulty of a whole test.
Why it happens
Extra clauses can hide the main verb and the limits of a claim. Separate the core statement from qualifications before interpreting the details. Keep words such as “some”, “only” and “although” attached to the claim they modify. Removing them can turn a cautious statement into an unsupported generalisation, even when every noun looks familiar.
Original micro-drill
Use the existing evidence-checks page as the shared drill surface; do not start a second passage bank here. On one paragraph, mark subject, main verb and limiting phrase in your own notes. Restate the claim in plain words, then point back to the original paragraph ID. The restatement must preserve the limit, not merely shorten the sentence.
Reading evidence checksNew-task transfer check
Open the second passage in evidence checks only after the first attempt. Identify the core statement and a restriction in the new text, then cite the line that settles a claim. The shared pair is tagged general_training: it practises evidence discipline, not Academic coverage. Ask for an unseen original academic text before claiming Academic transfer or broader readiness.
Next action
Keep a claim, its paragraph reference and your reason together. If there is no settling line, say what is missing instead of importing background knowledge. Use a new passage before describing transfer. Keep Academic and General Training evidence separately scoped; this exercise supplies no band. Bring both attempts for review if the same unsupported inference returns, and choose one reading action to try next.
