Evidence before answers

Use the original general_training pair below. Write an answer and a settling line before opening each explanation. A changed detail needs contradictory text; missing information stays unsupported by the passage.

Separate practice from transfer

Keep the new passage closed during the first attempt. If you have already seen both passages, ask for another original task before treating an attempt as unseen transfer. The paragraph log stays in your own notes; nothing is submitted or scored.

Fresh-transfer pair: General Training

Both passages are original general_training micro-tasks. Do the first in your notes before opening the second. Not Given means unsupported by the passage: the text neither confirms nor contradicts the claim. These are practice explanations, not a Reading score.

First task: library rooms

First task: library rooms

R1-P1 The library opened its group study rooms in May. Students can book a room for one hour.

R1-P2 The library lends laptops, which must stay inside the building.

A: Rooms opened in May. B: Bookings last two hours. C: Laptop loans require a fee.

Reveal the answer and cue

A True — R1-P1 gives May. B False — R1-P1 gives one hour. C Not Given — R1-P2 gives a location rule, no fee information. “No fee stated” does not mean “free”.

Open the new passage after the first attempt

New task: seed library

R2-P1 A neighbourhood seed library moved its collection to the community hall in September. Members may collect one packet during each visit.

R2-P2 Returned seeds are placed in a separate box for checking. Volunteers record the plant name before adding a packet to the shelves.

A: The collection moved in September. B: Members may collect two packets per visit. C: Volunteers receive payment for checking seeds.

Reveal the answer and cue

A True — R2-P1 states September. B False — R2-P1 limits collection to one packet. C Not Given — R2-P2 describes the work but says nothing about payment. Cite the paragraph, then explain the unsupported assumption.
