Develop a reason rather than repeat an opinion

Observable problem
An answer states an opinion, then repeats it with different adjectives. Quote the point and the supposed explanation. If the second sentence adds no reason, example or qualification, describe that missing development. Typed answers support language and content review only; they do not provide evidence about pronunciation or spoken fluency.
Why it happens
A broad question can make a strong opinion feel like a complete answer. Add one mechanism: explain how or why the effect might happen. Then test the limit of the claim. The teaching scaffold is claim, evidence, interpretation and warrant; it helps organise reasoning without promising a result or treating an invented example as research.
Original micro-drill
Original question: “Should cities create more shared gardens?” Give a qualified view, a reason and a hypothetical example. Say why the example supports the view, then name a condition that could limit it. Label the example imagined. In text, underline the sentence that supplies the reason and check that it is not just the opinion repeated.
New-task transfer check
New question: “When can shared transport be less useful than individual travel?” Build a new reason and exception instead of reusing the garden example. Compare the two reasoning chains in your notes. A teacher may review how the content develops; this typed comparison cannot assess speech timing or establish a Speaking band, even if the paragraphs look well organised.
Next action
Keep the prompt, content cue and any observed evidence separate from assumptions about delivery. Typed answers never produce pronunciation or fluency judgements. Ask permission before recording; no recording or personal information is stored here. Use a genuinely new question for transfer, then choose one content action to practise next. An unclear or missing audio anchor remains insufficient evidence rather than a forced rating.
